It is a great pleasure to invite you to the 5th PacRim Breast and Prostate Cancer Meeting, an international conference organised by the PacRim Breast and Prostate Cancer Group with the aim of fostering collaborative interactions to improve the understanding, management and prevention of breast and prostate cancer. The PacRim Meetings have developed into more of an interactive, ‘think tank’ engaging all participants, rather than a more conventional conference.
The 5th PacRim meeting will be held at ‘Mantra on Salt Beach’, Kingscliff, New South Wales, Australia. Kingscliff is located in the Tweed River Valley, on New South Wales’ north coast, and is on the doorstep of many popular Queensland and New South Wales must-see destinations including Gold Coast theme parks and beautiful Byron Bay.
Building upon the success of previous meetings, the 5th PacRim Breast and Prostate Cancer Meeting will bring together world experts, both scientific and clinical, to address the most recent developments in the field, with a particular focus on ‘Improving personalised medicine approaches to the treatment and prevention of breast and prostate cancer’. The program endeavours to integrate, where possible, aspects of epidemiology, biology and translational and clinical research in breast and prostate cancer. The 5th PacRim Meeting will continue with the effective format of interactive discussions, achieved by limiting participants to short talks, with discussants having the option of introducing a point with a single slide.
Program themes and more specific program information will be posted on this website in due course. Relevant topics will also be covered in poster presentations, and we encourage all students and post-doctoral fellows to submit posters on their work.
The 5th PacRim Breast and Prostate Cancer Meeting will commence late afternoon on Tuesday, 3rd May with the Ron Ross Oration, followed by a poolside welcome reception. An informal session incorporating ‘The Great Debate’ will be held on Thursday evening. The social program will include local events and activities, allowing more opportunities for delegates to interact in the beautiful surrounds of the Salt Village, Kingscliff and Mount Warning areas.
Finally, thanks to our sponsors for their generous support of this year’s meeting.
On behalf of the conference organisers, I invite you to what promises to be an exciting and memorable conference, both scientifically and socially.
