Time

Australia has different time zones and summer Daylight Times. South Australia (Adelaide) observes Australian Central Daylight Time (ACDT).   ACDT = UTC+10.5 hours

Communication

Complimentary wireless internet is provided throughout the Barossa Novotel.
A PC and printer is available for guests in the Novotel’s Business Corner (near Reception). Ask Reception staff for assistance.

Electricity

The electrical supply is 220-240 volts, and international travelers should bring electrical voltage adapters. The plugs in Australia have two flat metal pins shaped like a “V” and some may contain a third flat pin in the centre.

Climate & Clothing

Adelaide enjoys the lowest humidity of any Australian city and experiences mild winters and warm, dry summers. In autumn (March – May), the city and countryside take on a red, orange and golden hue and the weather is pleasant with average temperatures 12 -18°C in the evening and 25-30°C during the day,and very little rainfall. The climate in the Barossa Valley can be warm to hot in March (early autumn) with cool nights.

With the relaxed atmosphere at the Barossa Novotel, casual lightweight clothing is acceptable during the day; smart, casual clothing in the evening. A lightweight jacket is recommended for cooler evenings in the Barossa Valley.

Sunscreen is highly recommended for outdoor activities.

Visa Requirements

Visas are required for entry to Australia.  Please refer to Australian Government visa information at https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/visi/visi.  Note: the ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) subclass 601 visa is free for North American visitors.

Travel & Health Insurance

Strongly recommended for international travelers.

Tipping

Tipping restaurant and bar staff is the not a general custom in Australia, it is optional for good service, and most appreciated.

Shopping and Banking

All major credit cards are accepted at the Barossa Novotel.

ATMs and banks and purchase of necessities can be found at the Adelaide Airport and in the township of Tanunda (about 10 minutes from the Barossa Novotel).

There is a 10% GST (Goods and Service Tax) rate in Australia.
