Electricity
The electrical supply is 220-240 volts, and international travellers should bring electrical voltage adapters. The plugs in Australia have two flat metal pins shaped like the letter “V” and some may contain a third flat pin in the centre.
Climate & Clothing
Darwin has a tropical savanna climate with distinct wet and dry seasons, and the average maximum temperature is similar all year round. The dry season runs from about May to October, during which nearly every day is sunny, and afternoon relative humidity averages around 30%. The average temperature in August is approx. 20-31oC (67-90oF).
Casual lightweight clothing is acceptable during the day; smart, casual clothing in the evening. A lightweight jacket is recommended for cooler evenings.
Sunscreen is highly recommended for outdoor activities.

Tipping
Tipping restaurant and bar staff is the not a general custom in Australia, it is optional for good service, and most appreciated.
Shopping and Banking
All major credit cards are accepted at both conference hotels.
ATMs and banks and purchase of necessities can be found at the Darwin International Airport and in Darwin city.
There is a 10% GST (Goods and Service Tax) rate in Australia, and this is included in the prices displayed.
